Fighting the Silent Epidemic of Childhood Oral Disease
With Education and a Little Help from the Toothfairy

NEWPORT BEACH, CA – June 18, 2007.  There is a healthcare crisis in America that is affecting far too many children.  Classified as neglected epidemic, oral health disease is the most common childhood illness and it is the most easily preventable.  Toothfairy Island ® is a company that has been established to become a global leader in oral health materials with the result of an immediate reduction in oral health disease.

This is not just about preventing cavities; this is establishing wellness in our children by addressing five main areas.  These areas include oral health, nutrition, germ transmission, science, and safe play.

Oral Health – To educate children and their families how to reduce bacteria levels in a child’s mouth

Nutrition – Develop nutritional habits that promote oral health as well as an overall systemic health.

Germ transmission – Ways to prevent the needless transmission of

illnesses from one child to another.

Science – Educational materials focus on teaching true science, even

to the youngest child.

Safe play – Developing techniques that prevent traumatic injuries or illnesses to children.

The curriculum includes exciting materials such as games, puzzles, puppets, songs, and a video.  Over 10 years of field testing experience in educating disadvantaged children in an innovative Children’s Dental Center have built a solid foundation for the development and creation of Toothfairy Island’s educational materials.  Geared toward a wide range of audiences, the Toothfairy Island ® curriculum is also available in Spanish.  A Spanish version of “Roberto Meets the Toothfairy”,© a video about a child’s adventures with the Toothfairy and her friends on Toothfairy Island ®, will soon be released.  Teachers, healthcare professionals and the public can learn more about Toothfairy Island’s educational materials at www.toothfairyisland.com or contact the Oral Health Section of Arizona Public Health Association, AzPHA.      Southern AZ:  Margaret Perry  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
