When used in real world settings for populations considered to be high risk, the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines were found to significantly reduce the risk for hospitalization in older adults. Among adults 65 and older, being fully vaccinated was 94% effective against hospitalization, and being partially vaccinated was 64% effective against hospitalization.
